I started the Bedford Creative Collective because it's the group I needed when I stopped working as a prosecutor and became a writer.
I felt elated to finally follow my dream. But I also felt... sad and confused.
I missed the intellectual experience of being in a classroom or around a table, figuring out how to try a case. I also missed having mentors who saw my potential more clearly than I did. Lacking support, my writing practice became heavy, and that weight showed on the page.
Six years in, I discovered a trustworthy, encouraging group of fellow creatives. With their generous witnessing, I found a top literary agent; successfully pitched a screenplay and created a platform for essays with a robust, engaged following. In just three months, all of the creative seeds I'd been planting came to fruition.
But only because I found my collective.
That group has since expanded to actors, writers, potters, painters, musicians and photographers all over the country. We need each other, and we need you.
